Mary's Meals Backpacks, April 2020

.
The latest lot of 89 Mary's Meals Backpacks were made up from donations of items from the ever generous parishoners of SS John Cantius & St Nicholas. They have been steadily coming in since Canon Agnew did another appeal for it back in December. Kirkton Park Tennis Club in Bathgate made a donation of tennis balls.

They were all packed by Pauline's "own fair hands".  She packs, checks and labels each one to make sure every backpack is identical and nothing has been missed out. Usually they go to Malawi, but sometimes other countries in Africa EG, Liberia.

Due to the lockdown of the Coronaviris crisis no one knows when they will be uplifted. Mary's Meals are aware of them and will be in touch when we are out of lockdown and the vans are on the road again. Pauline hopes that it's soon as they are taking up lots of space in her house.

Canon John's Appeal

Please Help Mary’s Meals: Schools in every country are closed because of the virus. This means that in the poorer country’s children do not get their meals from us. CAN YOU help us raise some funds at this very difficult time? A few suggestions could be, whilst we are in isolation look out some children’s clothes that you no longer need, we can collect after the crisis, when on your daily walk/cycle sponsor your child for every rainbow or bear they see, have a family quiz night online, donate 10p for every correct question. Please help in any way you can, we would love to hear about any other ideas to spread amongst our communities.

You can make some children as happy as this young boy by trying to raise some funds for Mary's Meals by following some of Canon John's suggestions or one of your own ideas.
